Walking in Heels

21 Dec 2019

Supermodels and celebrities always walk in high heels and make it look so easy, however it’s not as easy as it looks. We have some tips that will hopefully make it a bit easier to walk seamlessly in high heels

  • Taking a smaller step - by walking in smaller steps you are more in control. Remember, you aren’t wearing running shoes, so you need to allow yourself more time.
  • Start with smaller heels and work your way up - if you aren’t used to wearing heels get yourself into wearing smaller heels first and once you are comfortable with those move to taller heels slowly over time.
  • Make sure you have the right size - shoe sizes can change, your feet can get flatter and fuller over time making them wider or, if there is a change in your weight your feet can grow or shrink so you need to make sure your shoe is not too big or your foot will be sliding out and not too small or every step will just be painful and cause blisters.
  • Fix your posture - wearing heels can often cause your lower back to arch so you need to make sure your head is in line with your spine and your chin is parallel with the floor, use your abdominal muscles by sucking your belly towards your spine, this helps you stand straighter and slightly bend your knees
